Jang Keun Suk, who visited Busan International Film Festival for the first time since his debut, attracted attention because of his bodyguards. It was the one that showed his changed status in the industry.
Finishing up Busan showcase for his new movie You’re My Pet, also starring Kim Ha Neul, on the 9th, Jang Keun Suk showed up at Haewoondae night food stands which is a specialty of Busan International Film Festival. It was the night before he participated in Open Talk with Hollywood actor Logan Lerman at BIFF square’s outdoor stage.
Jang Keun Suk showed up at one of the food stands next to Grand hotel with his people around the midnight. After staying at the food stand for a while drinking with his people, he moved to another food stand to say hi to the people he knew.
He couldn’t drink much because of the schedule on the next day but still had to empty a bottle of soju to say thank you to the greetings such as “it’s great that you beat Bae Yong Joon.”
What actually attracted people’s attention was Jang Keun Suk’s bodyguards who were wearing receivers, busy to protect Jang Keun Suk every time he moved in between the food stands. One of the people in the entertainment industry said, “there were a few bodyguards who guarded Jang Keun Suk as if he were a president”, being astonished.
Jang Keun Suk became famous overnight in Japan with his drama You’re Beautiful, earning over 20 billion won for commercials and getting investment from Japan to film You’re My Pet. As he became a ‘moving ATM machine,’ he needed bodyguards within 30 cm of distance just in case.
One of the star managers said, “there were also Jang Dong Gun and Song Hye Gyo at the same hour but only Jang Keun Suk was with bodyguards. We are guessing there was a special order from his parents who are personally managing him.” It was also said Jang Keun Suk received over 150 million won per episode for Love Rain directed by Yoon Suk Ho.
